Contact Now Football Without Borders is an organization that uses the power of sport, particularly football, to create a vehicle for social change in disadvantaged communities. We believe in equipping the youth with leadership skills, so they can tackle issues that they face in their communities, such as substance abuse, gender inequality, sexual reproductive health and access to education. Football is used as the core vehicle because it is the most popular sport in the world and it is easy to use to spread messages and attract the youth to our organisation. At the end of the day we not only aim to produce capable sports persons but also future leaders that are able to provide solutions to improve their respective communities.
Our strategy of action is based on a methodology of the Four FWB Pillars, which work holistically and are integrated within the various projects and activities of the organisation:
View DetailsZandspruit is an informal settlement in the north-west of Joburg. People from all over South Africa and even neighbouring countries, live in Zandspruit, some mostly employed in Johannesburg.Zandspruti has a population of 40 000.
The community is known for service delievery protests . Census figures for the entire ward show that 48% of households live in shacks.
Kromdraai informal Settlement is a rural settlement on the outskirts of Krugersdorp which is under Mogale municipality.
The community is surrounded by tourist attarcation such as Sterkfontein caves, Lion and Rhino Game Reserve,Nirox Sculpture Park.
Hilbrow is an innercity residential neighbourhood of johanesburg and it is known for high levels of unemployment, crime,poverty and prostitution.
Today, the majority of the residents are incoming migrants from the townships, rural areas and the rest of Africa, many living in abject poverty.This community is a focus of our social cohesion program.
Our volunteer exchange program in partner with AISEC which is an opportunity to visit South Africa and initiate a sports and community project for disadvantaged children and young people in marginalized communities.
Football Without Borders’ Theory of Change is based on the assumption that concrete positive changes in a young person’s behaviour, activity or situation are dependent on changes in their perspective, perception of themselves and others.
Life on The ball is our health education program which has the overall goal of making individuals and communities in areas that FWB operates responsible for halting the spread of HIV/AIDS amongst the high risk populations and migitate the impact
Lezintombiziyakhona is our girl empowerment program which is a sports leadership,sexual reproductive health and rights based program.The goal of the program is to create a world were girls & women lead dignified lives, valued as equals.
Learning Through Football is an initiative set up to use the popularity of sport particularly football to provide football based teaching curriculum by holding after school study support programs.The program focuses on improving numeracy, literacy and IT skills.
FWB Academy is our sport development program that provides sporting opportunities to youths in various sporting codes such as Football, Boxing/Kickboxing and Netball
